Can you mark email from a pop server as read?

Question

The answer for marking email on an imap server is clear, can you use the imap function on a pop server?
Or is there another method?
You can use Imap.MarkMessageAsSeenByUID to mark message as seen.

POP3 doesn't have the notion of unread emails.

Emails simply are stored in the mailbox - they don't have any state.

POP3 clients usually remove messages as soon as they are downloaded.

(Please note that this is not a limitation of Mail.dll, but of the protocol itself)
